Giovanni & Tarena Mowrey Family
Giovanni and Tarena met in 2018 while serving with NET Ministries, a Catholic missionary organization. A year later, they were paired as co-supervisors for two NET teams until COVID ended the mission year early. After leaving NET, they began dating and were married on April 10, 2021, in Naples, Florida.
Two months later, they traveled to Picota, Peru to visit the Erisman family—a trip that deepened their love for serving the poor and witnessing God’s kingdom reach the ends of the earth. Their desire for mission has remained steady ever since.
In the fall of 2023, both sensed in prayer that the Lord was calling them to become a missionary family “in three years.” Over time, this call was confirmed through prophetic words, visions, and ongoing discernment. The final confirmation came in January 2026 during their first visit to Costa Rica, where they experienced a profound peace and joy in encountering the culture.
Giovanni and Tarena are parents to three young children—two sons and an infant daughter. In January 2027, they will move to Cartagena, Guanacaste, Costa Rica to begin serving as full-time missionaries and to establish this new mission post.
“Do not be afraid of the radicalness of His demands, because Jesus, who loved us first, is prepared to give Himself to you, as well as asking of you. If He asks much of you, it is because He knows you can give much.”
