Our Mission in
Ecuador
Growing the Church one relationship at a time.
The mission in Ecuador is located in Tena, a city of about 30,000 people in the Amazon Rainforest, with beautiful mountains nearby and a strong Kichwa tribal culture.
Like most of the Francis Institute mission posts, the mission in Ecuador is being built from ground zero. It is being started without any other missionary activity or existing ministries. Therefore, this mission is rooted in a simple conviction: lasting missionary work begins with presence. Rather than rushing to create programs, our missionaries invest their time in building authentic relationships, supporting the local Church, and walking alongside the people they serve.
Mission Life in Ecuador
While every Francis Institute mission shares the same four pillars, each mission expresses them according to the unique needs of the local community.
-

PROCLAIMING THE GOSPEL
The Gospel is proclaimed through daily witness, music ministry, youth gatherings, prayer ministry, and personal conversations that invite others into a deeper relationship with Christ.
-

MAKING DISCIPLES
Our missionaries accompany young people, families, and parishioners through friendship, encouragement, and ongoing formation, believing that discipleship grows one relationship at a time.
-
BUILDING COMMUNITY
By living alongside the families, supporting parish events, and investing in authentic friendships, the missionaries are laying a strong foundation for the future.
-

SERVING THE POOR
Service begins by recognizing the dignity of every person. Whether through generous hospitality, responding to practical needs of the poor as they arise, or simply listening and praying with those who are suffering, the missionaries seek to make Christ's love visible in everyday life.

Our missionary family in Ecuador is currently in a season of preparation and renewal as they await the birth of their first child. During this time, they continue building relationships with local families, the parish priests, and the wider community, trusting that God often accomplishes His greatest work through faithfulness in ordinary moments.
