Robert Erisman

Full-Time Missionary

Robert has been serving as a missionary since n his family moved to Peru when he was 11. Growing up in a Catholic family that took their faith seriously, he often felt like their faith wasn’t truly his own. There were moments when he prayed sincerely and felt a connection with God, but for the most part, he was just going through the motions.

Moving to Peru was an incredible experience for him. He fell in love with the people, the culture, and the mission. However, it wasn’t until his third year there that he began to take his faith seriously. He started paying closer attention during Mass, praying from a place of sincerity, and feeling the presence of Jesus, especially when he prayed with the sick or injured.

He didn’t give much thought to his future until he turned 16. As he reflected and prayed about what he wanted to do with his life, he realized that he had always assumed he would become a missionary in Peru. After spending time praying, thinking, and talking with his parents, he felt confident that this was the path God was calling him to follow.

It has been Robert’s desire to build up the Peruvian youth and young adults to deepen their faith and invite them to serve others.  He is launching and leading a single men’s team with Jack, one of the Peruvian missionaries with the Francis Institute.  Together, they are working to establish a community and youth center—an intentional space where young people can encounter Christ, be formed in discipleship, and called to service. Their hope is to foster a culture rooted in faith, fellowship, and mission, inspiring the next generation to follow Jesus and share His love with others.
